4G Network launches on Everything Everywhere

The next generation of mobile internet use launched this week, with new superfast 4G networks made available in 11 cities nationwide.

The new fast connection is currently only available to Everything Everywhere customers, which includes those connected to Orange and T-Mobile. Other networks will not be able to offer 4G until next year.

The first cities to be connected to EE’s 4G services are London, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Glasgow and Southampton. With Belfast, Derby, Hull, Newcastle and Nottingham set to be connected by Christmas.

EE has promised users connection speeds of between 8 – 12Mbps, which is up to five times faster than 3G (third generation mobile technology).

That said, access to 4G connections will mean an increase on your current monthly tariff. The current cheapest tariff with 4G access costs £36 per month for 500MB of data.

Many smartphone users now seem set to move over to EE from rival networks as they are currently the only provider able to offer 4G.

Have you been one of the first users of 4G? Let us know your thoughts!
