A decade or so ago, the Dot.com bubble burst and everyone was saying that the Internet was dead and nobody would ever buy things online again.
Of course that hasn’t happened – online sales have grown exponentially and now brands that haven’t invested in e-commerce are not only falling behind but also missing out on huge revenues. (more…)

Will the 4G licence auction fund rural broadband?
The people of rural Britain are getting fed up….As if slow, or non-existent broadband wasn’t bad enough because of long line lengths and decaying old copper wires, going mobile isn’t even an option to them like it is for urbanites. That’s right, the price you pay for living in the beautiful British countryside is a lack of decent broadband speed or mobile phone services. (more…)

The challenge

Bloom in Business was founded by three Yorkshire Business Women who identified a gap in the market for a fun, creative, relaxed environment where businesses could meet, learn and bloom.
Disillusioned with the typically unproductive, run of the mill business events, their mission is to create a UK-wide series of regional business events that provide businesses with an effective and enjoyable networking and promotional forum. In addition to these events, they also publish Bloom In Business Magazine, a regional publication showcasing local businesses to the local business community. (more…)

In these unprecedented times of economic uncertainty, it gives us all a boost when industry commentators announce good news off the back of their latest piece of research.
Take the latest survey from Barclays Corporate, which has revealed that the majority of firms in the North plan to create new jobs this year. Good times!
Unfortunately there is a big ‘but’…these firms say they’ll only create the jobs if sales grow first. (more…)

Mention 2012 and most people think of the Olympics but here in Leeds, the home of Core Telecom and 08 Direct, we’ve got other reasons to be excited about next year.
You see although we’ll be rooting for the likes of Phillips Idowu and Jessica Ennis as they attempt to win gold medals for Team GB in London, we’re also going to be looking forward to the opening of the new Leeds Arena.
It has been a long time coming, because although Leeds is the 5th largest city in the UK, it has never had a dedicated entertainment arena (cue Leeds United fans pointing out that Elland Road is witnessing tonnes of entertainment as LUFC go for back to back promotions this year…). (more…)
