Today is the the day that the US Senate is voting on a bill to save America’s economy by increasing its debt limit by $2.4trillion. Now as someone who works for a telecoms business, I like long numbers but in this case I had to write trillion as I didn’t want to type out all the noughts for a million million! (more…)

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011(But we weren’t running scared, we were raising money for charity by climbing a massive mountain!)
You might be aware (through our Facebook page, Twitter stream @08direct, and pleading emails!) that eight intrepid members of the 08 Direct team recently undertook an eight hour climb up Tryfan Mountain in Snowdonia in aid of charity.
Red Nose Day 2011: We’re doing something funny for money!
Thursday, March 17th, 2011A week before 8 intrepid members of our team head off to Snowdonia to climb Tryfan Mountain in aid of Diabetes UK (if you are feeling generous they’d be very grateful – you can sponsor them here https://www.justgiving.com/teams/coretelecom/) the whole company will be getting in to the charity spirit on Red Nose Day.
Comic Relief is urging everyone to ‘do something funny for money’ so our Leeds office will be doing all sorts of daft things in aid of the charity’s Red Nose Day extravaganza.
Post back and let us know what you’ll be doing!
03 Number gets DJ Chris Moyles ranting
Monday, March 14th, 2011Driving into work this morning, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and, as usual, I had the Chris Moyles Show on the radio. Now, Moyles likes to talk but one particular link caught my attention when he had to read out Radio 1’s telephone number so that listeners could call the show.
Now it isn’t unusual for him to have a bit of a rant, but in this case Moyles vented an opinion that he thinks Radio 1’s phone number is, frankly, rubbish. And he’s got a point because most radio stations use a phone number that has something to do with either their broadcasting frequency or the name of the station. But Radio 1’s number is 03700 100 100. (more…)
Children in Need Pledge
Monday, November 29th, 2010
Our Chief Executive Mahmood Mazhar from Leeds, Yorkshire, has promised to back his staff in their support of Children in Need. The BBC aired charitable initiative brings the British public together in raising substantial funds for deprived children at home and abroad.
08 Direct has always supported charities within the community, recently backing Cancer Research UK and football club Horndean FC. To carry on their good work Mahmood Mazhar has agreed that for every pound one of his employees donates to Children in Needs, he will give ten times the amount.
Mahmood Mazhar inspires his employees to do more within the community, with Account Executive Gemma Inman previously raising £4000 for charity Raising Malawi, which Mazhar also supported with a donation of £500. PR Executive Jayne Thompson is soon to take on the challenge of trekking part of the Great Wall of China, for which she has already raised £1090 with an aim of £1600, in support of The Alzheimer’s Society.
With employees giving generously to Children in Need Mazhar’s donation should be a substantial one. Keep an eye on our blog for our update and grand total.
08 Direct Become Horndean FC’s 12th Man
Wednesday, November 10th, 201008 Direct has made a generous donation to Hampshire-based football club, Horndean FC. The club which was founded in 1887 established a committee in 2008 to begin to encourage growth and bring about the highest standard of football achievable.
Being a Leeds-based company 08 Direct takes its role in the community seriously and admire the strong hold Horndean FC established and retain within their community. The club not only supports their 1st team but also offers a playing ground for Horndean ladies team, under 15s, under 13s and under 7s players.
Having strong connections with the area through 08 Direct’s staff members based nationwide, it seemed fitting that 08 Direct widened its reach and gave its support where needed.
Mahmood Mazhar, Chief Executive of 08 Direct commented “We are delighted to be supporting the club; we look forward to seeing them perform their magic on the pitch.”
What’s The Catch? It’s Sound too Good to be True…..
Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010Are consumers overlooking a good deal these days because of scepticism or the worry of being caught out by a scammer……..?
08 Direct’s services are completely free with our wide range of bronze numbers all available free of charge but what’s the catch? Well, there isn’t one……
Recently we have noticed that consumers find our services too good to be true and shy away from our sales team believing nothing comes for free.
To be honest I understand the dilemma and can generally sniff out a sales pitch at 50 paces, only to do my best to avoid any kind of conversation or commitment on my part. I’m not so sure this is a good thing though, are we as consumers kicking ourselves in the foot? How many genuinely good ideas or money saving tips have I missed?
Too many scammers out there have reduced people’s confidence in genuine business, believing good offers only ever come with a price.
At 08 Direct we offer all our numbers free when selecting from a bronze package and all our call management services completely free of charge when connecting to a landline. On top of this if you select a 0844 or 0871 number you could earn a rebate on your inbound calls of up to 7.5 pence per minute.
If you currently experience high call volume but don’t earn a rebate you really have nothing to lose. There is no contract so you can leave at any time if you feel the services do not match your criteria but we are sure they will.
How do we do it?
Basically, we earn our revenue from the inbound minutes, not on the actual numbers or call management features.
What’s the Catch?
There isn’t one, all our number on our bronze packages are free…
No installation, no setup and no contract just clear pricing structures and exceptional customer service.
